Coming Back Slowly
Hello! Sorry for all that silence. I know I keep saying I'd come back and everything, but hopefully, this time will be different. I've sort of been going through a rough patch for a while. It's why I've been so spotty. And then Eclipse happened and the layout and everything is so horrible, messy, hard to navigate, and non-user friendly. It made me not want to use the site too much, but it's also the only place I really want to use. So I guess I'm stuck until something better comes along!
I'm starting to feel better, I think things are finally settling for good now. I'd also really like to post some of the stuff that I've been making because what's in my gallery doesn't reflect what I'm doing now. I also want to get back to posting and developing on things and go through the comments I got on grids and such and complete those. I miss making designs, it's so fun!
I also haven't done much with Azure on here for so long. I know a lot of people love her, but more important, she's changed... a lot. Like, a lot a lot. Cartazonons have changed a lot too! So I think it's time to share the new Azure! She got an updated status mark, a new form, the fact cartazonons now have more lion like features, you're going to see a lot changed over the years. I do have a google doc with her updated backstory, fun cartazonon info from history to culture to details of the place they live. I'm not ready to share though, but I'll give a few tidbits on major changes to tease. For those unaware of the Azure / cartazonon lore (as in the history of that on this page), you may be confused, but that's okay! This is more for the long time watchers and followers. Thank you for all your support over the years despite my on and offness and I hope you're excited for these new things! I also hope the newer people are excited to learn about them too! You may already know some of this if you follow Conquest.
Cartazonons have a religion?!
Now they do! The All Father (his name is Etheros Fray), creator of the cartazonons. They are his children (I got a whole world lore thing in the works, much fun to come). There's also his blood which are ones he created from his own blood or gifted his blood in the process of their conception. Lots of fun religion details to come!
Lance and Azure aren't a couple anymore....
I will always cherish the art made of them and their history, I'm sure there are those who loved them as a couple, but there's been changes that'd make this relationship potentially... creepy.... As in they may be semi blood related now. And I want to avoid that because, yeah. You'll see. Also, Lance's personality has changed drastically, he's changed a lot. I also think Azure's better off by herself (or possibly with someone else, very tentative) and they're far cuter as friends! Lance will probably get paired with someone else in the future.
Fortis is Azure's father!
Yep! Azure's technically a princess now! I know I've teased the idea here and there, but I want to make it not just some AU for fun, but completely official! She is adopted, she has her original parents still. By the time she is, father is dead, mother is missing (don't know if alive or dead, but I do~).
Azure still runs away from home and goes on her journey before returning home thanks to Strife finding her.
It's too important to her story, though things are going to be changed with new characters getting involved and such, and it's for completely different reasons because....
Azure's status mark has changed?!
She's got a whole new destiny ahead of her! I realized that writing is more my thing. While she was initially intended to be a representation of me, she's developed far beyond that now. She still is, but now as her own character while still being my mascot of sorts. Her talent and destiny shouldn't be writing, it should be her psychic abilities. It always should have been, honestly, bad move on my part :P. The wolf head will still be a part of it because of a certain character popping up in her life (you'll have to wait and see), but I can actually draw one now so it won't look weird! Hurrah for art improvements :D!
New characters abound!
With bio refreshes and a developing cartazonon world means lots of new characters to help out! Blaze has new friends, Lance has new relationships, Fortis has more co-workers / friends, and of course, their god will need a design won't he...? Eventually!
Beast tamer updates, I also FINALLY have designs for Philistine and Fury (her son)!
If you haven't been keeping up with Conquest, you won't know about this lady finally getting colors and everything! You may have heard her named dropped or seen her sketched once or twice, but never fully developed and in the flesh! I also developed a bit more of beast tamer society and stuff.
More lion, more horse, still all cartazonons!
Final thing I want to tease! I did research on horses and lions to see if there was anything I wanted to include about their behavior, biology, and such. The answer, yes! Learned lots of fun things now included in cartazonons! From being able to eat carrion to the importance of looking up to the elders of society, even developing prides and how they control the motion of others to establish dominance in a social situation, they're starting to become a fun mix of both species!
What about the DA group I made? I would like to revamp it. I also have plans to make some cute cartazonon baby adopts~! I want to encourage more cartazonons out in the world! What if you want to make it based off my ideas and such? I'll be sharing the google doc with all the info soon so you can participate in this growing world. Or you can do your own thing! Have fun! I don't own them, so make up your own stuff if you want! I just want to see more fluffy lion horses out there :)!
I also would like to work on a next gen sometime. I have had plans to make one, I have babies, I have ships. I hope to share that some day! And yes, the cartazonons are involved. Got to include my babies!
My return is going to be slow still, I'm going to slowly work on any backlogs of stuff that I was too mentally out there / unwell or busy to take care of before. Please be patient with me and if you have been, thank you so much for understanding. I thank anyone who's reading this and has been with me from the beginning or whenever you got here, and if you're new, welcome! You're so awesome :D! Discord
We would greatly prefer you have this. If you don’t have one, make one. It’s a lot better than Skype and has a lot of good qualities Skype doesn't offer. If you can download Skype, you can get this, you can even access it on the internet without downloading anything. If for some reason you can’t, we may work out a compromise, but don’t count on it
To Qualify
You must send around 3 - 5 pieces of your current best work. This way, we can see if your art will work for the project. If we suspect your work for the project seems rushed and/or lacks quality, you will be dropped. We don't ask for perfection, only that you put in a meaningful amount of time and effort.
Base and Backgrounds
Bases are NOT allowed by any means! If you send in base work, you will not be considered, this goes for backgrounds as well. If you are accepted and we suspect you of using bases or other's work and find confirmation of this, you will be dropped immediately, no exceptions!
Quality
You must be able to keep up with the best quality you can muster. We are not asking for highly detailed, perfect anatomy pictures, but they have to be decent and have some sense of proportions, expressions, and height (we have a height chart). We will ask you to draw more than ponies. This list includes various dragons, cartazonons, yaks, gargoyles, changelings, etc and creatures like Discord and Tirek.
Expectations
We expect you to be able to draw anywhere between 1-3 pictures within the deadline between episodes. We are currently unsure how long between episodes we will have considering our own availability and schedules. However, when we set a deadline, do not miss it! Deadlines tend to range between 3 - 4 months, extensions are given when needed, we are flexible. The most we expect from your art is clean lines and colored while following the references and instructions given (you're more than welcome to suggest changes to certain aspects of the scene). If you want to be fancy, add shading, lots of details, or lineless, that's up to you. Keep in mind this is all volunteer work, don't audition if you aren't comfortable with that.
Violent and Mature Scenes
In this project, there will be scenes of violence, potential gore, mature scenes, and explicit scenes. If you don’t feel comfortable drawing for these scenes, please let us know. You will not be required to draw them and can still audition, this is here for those who may be sensitive so we know who can and can’t when assigning scenes.
Dropping Out
DO NOT by ANY circumstances drop out of this project without warning. We've had people who have done this. We will know who you are and you will not be able to work on this project in the future because of it.
If you don't think you can keep up the project with school or life getting in the way DO NOT AUDITION.

Some rules apply from above like having the Discord, meeting deadlines, and how there are violent and mature scenes (I will elaborate on that) so just a few quick points:

I'm Not Dead Yet!
BUT! I have been working on all sorts of things! Lots of exciting things! I've been learning how to stick with projects and ideas more and more and I've been making proper plans and steps to ensure it'll happen. When school's officially over, I will be posting more, lots of fun stuff ahead. I may take some time after school to unwind from this mess of a semester, but I will return strong. I'm working out my style so you'll notice in the flux of art I'll be posting an inconsistent style in a way. Slowly, I'm working it out. Over the next couple of days, I hope to respond to the comments I've been putting off, notes, etc. I promise I've seen them, trying to remind myself of anything important, and so on! I've just been too stressed to deal with it. Talking can take a lot out of me and if you're not a person I feel I can speak comfortably with, I will want to avoid that as I need to conserve energy for this semester and other things. I mean no offense by this, it's just how I work. So! What have I been working on and other possibly important things?
- Three next gen versus. Yes, three. There were ships I wanted to do and ideas I had. So, I've made a main and two subs (main ships as many characters as possible), the subs mostly focus on the more prominent ones or ones I like, I skipped over characters I don't care for so I can explore them all. I also love to make unconventional ships so expect a lot of weird shipping. Once I get everything figured out, I'll try to make a journal going over each so you can see while I work out child designs. I have a couple figured out from the main so expect that soon. I probably won't make any trees. There's just so much and I don't have time to fiddle around with that when I want to do so much. I've also plan to do a verse with my friend VChart (possibly two) while helping out in others when I can. It'll be fun! When I've finalized enough, I'll start posting some journals going over the ships and worlds so you can get a peak at what I'm up to; probably when school's done.
- Art Fight art. I did some art on art fight I'm pretty happy with! I intend to post those soon.
- YouTube, I've made a new series. It's called Audio Magic where I cover audio dramas, giving an aspect of them proper analysis. I'm probably going to make a video explaining the series since some people think it's a review series. It's not. It's an analysis series. What's the difference? If I was reviewing them, I'd cover everything and cover the good and bad points. Audio Magic only focuses on good aspects and on a very specific aspect, not the overall product. For example, in the recent episode I did Shadows of Corruption, I only talked about Heartsy (the main character of Shadows of Corruption) and the themes of identity present and how she deals with that internal struggle as well as the overall execution and presentation of said theme. I could have made a video about Peacock's friendship with her and how that's important to her overall character and plot because that's a major aspect of the drama, but I choose identity instead (also episode four isn't out yet and that will probably have a big piece of that friendship puzzle according to the trailer that got released you should check out so I'll have to make a video about that later). Basically, I'm using Audio Magic to teach about aspects of writing/creation in hopes it'll get people to think deeper about their work (anyone, not just the people I talk about) and add more complexities (i.e. more integration that relate to overall ideas or themes, better executions that lead to intrigue, etc.) that will make their creations pop. Encouraging better work is my goal. My plan is to make the first eleven episodes based on what I can talk about and then maybe do a spin off where I actually review audio dramas I can't talk about in Audio Magic (not always for lack of positives, but for lack of what to focus on). I plan to make a poll with other ideas of where I can take the series including a more critical version of Audio Magic called Audio Disillusionment where I look at the worst aspects of audio dramas to give people an idea of what not to do. This is something I'm hesitant about because I don't know how well it'll be received, at the same time, the idea for the first two episodes will be some of my most detailed, thorough, and over all informative and fascinating work I'll probably ever do for this series. I'll share them with the art postings because I made art for two of the episodes thus far.
- Writing! I've been writing a lot, nothing I can release yet, it's not ready. I will, eventually. If anyone wants to, check out VChart's (one of my best friends) FiM Fiction account, that's where I've been doing some of that writing. She wanted my assistance in co-writing some of the story, of course I accepted. It's getting good by the way, go read: www.fimfiction.net/story/41749…
- Conquest of course! That's been going well! Have some more scripts written, getting things moving, lines are pouring in, art is being made from our awesome artists (love you all by the way, you've been doing amazing, keep being awesome, I need to find a way to express my appreciation for you once I'm not stressing). I also have plans to release a short eventually because it turns out for my class we have to make a five minute radio play. What better excuse to make Conquest stuff than that?
- Mystery adopt set. I want to tease this now. They're coming out beautiful! I'm trying to keep them quick, simple sketch adopts and I'm failing because I'm a perfectionist. So, I'm going to keep trying to keep them sketchy because I don't want to put in too much time on a batch this big. They look great though! Very happy with the results!
- Commissions! Finally! After years of improving my skills, I now feel comfortable asking for money for my work! I've been working out some stash files going over prices and examples so, hopefully, after school, I can finally open commissions and make some money for myself. This includes things like art, customs, writing, voice acting, animation, pixel art, lots of stuff!
- MLP ended. For some reason, people thing because the show ended means the fandom does too? Weird. Sherlock officially ended over a hundred years ago, but people are still writing stories and such. Just because the generation ended doesn't mean it's over, it just means there won't be much official content, no one said we can't make our own fun. There's tons of great fan works out there and I bet you haven't seen them yet! I intend to keep making mlp stuff for as long as I see fit so no worries. As for my thoughts, I thought it was disappointing yet satisfying if that makes sense. The two parter was a let down and the epilogue was messy, but over all I'm satisfied. More so from the epilogue though I'm not going to be fussy. We got a fitting end for the most part and I can live with that.... While I go make up my own canon because I hated a lot of the show canon! That's my compromise.
- Eclipse is a thing. I don't really care for it. Honestly, I've been thinking of expanding my reach for a while. Looking toward Twitter and Instagram since people seem to buzz a fair bit around those. Will I leave DA? No. Will Eclipse push me out? Probably not. My guess is that everyone's going to be looking everywhere else including that new site that'll be made that I'm also looking at. I don't blame them. So I'm going to expand a little bit more to try and reach a new audience and in case DA dies, well, I have options. My page is a little dead, despite my watcher count, there's not much activity and that's on me for not being so active. At the same time, I really don't want to make a new account (mostly because of Eclipse, but I also love my username, I love to have my art in one place, it's a hassle, groups). Basically I'll still be here, posting, being active, I'm just going to look to expand my reach a little and see how things go. I'll work on bringing this account back to life starting in the winter.
That's about it. I've been making so much stuff and I intend to start posting that over the next weeks (yes, that much), a post a day should be good. As far as updates go, that's all I have to say. My goal after school and going into the next year is to be more active, comment more, favorite, etc. I want to be more involved and make some more friends if possible of which I suck at doing, but I'm going to really try and get better! There's so many awesome artists I watch I can never get myself to comment on because of stress or my inability to socialize at times. With school out of the way, I'm going to put more effort into improving my art, activity, and anything else that needs to be whipped into shape! I look forward to that time, it'll be fun
